Vancouver born & bred, I graduated from high school in '81 and went directly into the construction world as an apprentice tile setter. Learning the trade by old-school methods like sand & cement and screeding floors. This was long before the use of modern substrate and waterproofing methods we have today.
I soon entered the Tile Setter's Union and got my journeyman's status where I worked for years in the Vancouver area on high-end residential homes and large commercial projects. If you've ever shopped in a major mall in Vancouver, you've likely walked on my work.
I moved my family to Calgary in 2001 where I started my own business, Dave The Tile Guy. Continually updating new installation methods and techniques, I am well skilled in using all the new waterproofing and substrate brands such as Schluter® and Wedi®.
I now enjoy the company of my oldest son, who has learned the trade alongside me, and as a fellow-journeyman, we often work together on major projects.
When I'm not tiling, you'll find me actively engaged in photography, where I spend my time as a sports photographer. My other passion is camping and the outdoors.
I look forward to working with you.
