About Dave The Tile Guy

With over 40 years in the trade, Dave The Tile Guy brings experience, precision, and old-school craftsmanship to every project.

Originally from Vancouver, Dave started his career straight out of high school as an apprentice tile setter, learning the trade the traditional way—working with sand, cement, and hand-screeded floors, long before today’s modern systems existed. That foundation built a level of skill and attention to detail that still defines his work today.

After earning his journeyman certification and working for years on high-end residential homes and large commercial projects in the Vancouver area, Dave contributed to installations in some of the region’s most well-known shopping centres—work that’s still being walked on every day.

In 2001, Dave moved to Calgary and founded Dave The Tile Guy, continuing to build a reputation for quality, reliability, and craftsmanship. While his roots are in traditional methods, he stays current with modern installation systems and is experienced with industry-leading products such as Schluter® and Wedi®.

Today, Dave often works alongside his oldest son, also a journeyman tile setter, combining decades of experience with the next generation of skilled craftsmanship.

When he’s not on site, Dave is usually behind the lens as a sports photographer or out enjoying the outdoors.
